Tractatus of Gamification

I found a video by gamifier Zichermann on Google+, which linked to the main gamification blog/website at http://www.gamification.co.

I felt inspired to share my ideas about gamification, in the form of a tractatus.

          1. The value of a game is its dynamic value. There is no game without dynamic value. If the end-user does not have a dynamic, the game must create a dynamic. If dynamics are artificial, the result is artificial value. But where the game actually has value, value can be created.

          2. To gamify, it is possible to add user-value. But this seems to incur a linear expense. How to add infinite value to a game without having an infinite game? It seems important to connect multiple games rather than leaving a dead end-product. The value of psychic games, the value of coherent games. The value of games with a functional concept, versus the commercial value of expendability. The need for phenomenological mapping. The value of creative games. Variablism: adding the exact factor that extends the value of the game, or the desire for relationships of products, sub-categories of functions, etc.

         3. The user should add value to the product.

         4. If the end-user /crowd-sourcee has no value, then where is the incentive to gamify? The need to add value to the consumer is also the opportunity to build the game into a more permanent context.

That's it for now, pretty brief, covers a lot of the source, solution, future, and problem.

Updates

I posted some more casual reviews, one from a bookstore employee, and one from an analyst I met at a cafe, along with a repeat of Phil Hall's encouraging review from the bottom of the page, at my DPT page on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/The-Dimensional-Philosophers-Toolkit-Encyclopedia/dp/1481704575/

Anyone who has just stumbled on this site should read my earlier post on Prodigious Fame, and my much earlier posts about my Interview with Ian McGinn the Philosopher, and my Coincidental Interview with Warren G. Buffett or A Very Good Impersonator (maybe I'm in a different universe than I was then to account for the different initial---).

Recently I've been spending time at Starbucks a lot, and still avoiding coffee unless Chai Lattes count (the concentrated box gives 4 out of 5 stars for caffeine, I don't know if that means no matter how much milk you add or what. Anyway, I have been cutting down the number of pumps, just in case it's coffee. But supposedly it's not).

I have a plan to go to an art show on Friday the 26th at ArtSpace. A young woman named Erika, who is an analyst, will be showing art work there. She has agreed to analyze my book for me, and possibly provide some kind of review material. Hopefully so.

The biggest news recently is the earlier post about KGBANSWERS.CO.UK. They said I'm one of the top three perpetual motion theorists, along with Newton and Einstein.

I still have medicated schizophrenia, and I'm still not depressed. Things are pretty good, although not as economically or emotionally rewarding as I would like. This conversation with Erika was one of the best things that happened to me recently. Not love at first sight, but at least she's attractive and would talk to me. She has very short hair, which I attribute to Lesbians. But it's not like I'm a player, in the only language that's available locally.

Sometimes I think my sexuality is architecture. And I'm not an architect, so that rules that out. But don't misinterpret me if you're a young woman who happens to be obsessed or fascinated for good or bad reasons.

Gnomonic Symbols

How To Interpret the Following Symbols?

The gridi-form structure appears to be composing or decomposing. It might be a symbol for language, graphical games, or physical structure. It appears to offer a manifestation of reality, a manifestation of secrets, an access to manifestation, and a secret access. These parts describe a two-dimensional pyramid.

This more dimensional figure looks like a metallic orb with a path winding into it. It seems to express a duality. Secondly, there is a transposition of nature and architecture. It also looks like a woman's head. It could represent culture. Looking at the lines for independent value from representation, there is a latched quality which suggests mechanics and then again perhaps a plan of winding paths. It looks like a kind of marked serpent. Perhaps it represents the unknown.

This last gnomon looks like petrified rock. It has a Zen quality. The figures are both open and closed. The organization seems to be having a thought about itself. Nature seems both eternal and eroded.

Combining the three figures, we might find a structure that is paradoxically complete. The snake becomes the garden, the stones have variation, the grid is partially complete from more than one angle.

Follies of Ideation

[Linear Sets]

Set One: The Drifter

1. Nihilism
2. Laziness
3. Pre-Determination
4. Acceptance

Set Two: The Artist

1. Ambiguity
2. Inspiration Alone
3. Desire Alone
4. Mere Sophistication

Set Three: The Professional

1. Belief
2. Work
3. Chance
4. Failure

Set Four: The Corporation

1. Arbitration
2. Boring Rules
3. Meaningful Trajectory
4. Back to the Basics

So, in categorical terms we are left with the following meaningful sets:

  I. Nihilism, Laziness, Inspiration, Ambiguity

Deductions: Nihilism is lazy when inspiration is ambiguous,
Nihilism is ambiguous when inspiration is lazy.

II. Pre-Determination, Acceptance, Mere Sophisication, Desire Alone

Deductions: Pre-determination is accepted when mere sophistication is the only desire,
Pre-determination is desire-alone when mere sophistication is accepted.

III. Chance, Failure, Back to the Basics, Meaningful Trajectory

Deductions: Chance is a failure when back to the basics is a meaningful trajectory, Chance is a meaningful trajectory when back to the basics fails.

IV. Belief, Work, Boring Rules, Arbitration

Deductions: Belief works when boring rules are arbitrated, Belief is arbitrated when boring rules work.

Ostensibly these deductions provide guidance both for good and bad approaches to the folly of ideas.

My Review of My Schizophrenic Poetry Book on Goodreads

Creeping Cadence and Cadence Continues: Poetry in the Life of a SchizophrenicCreeping Cadence and Cadence Continues: Poetry in the Life of a Schizophrenic by Nathan Coppedge
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Considering this is schizophrenic poetry, it does remarkably well. Readers may find that this is 'juicier' and more creative writing than many other sources, and also abstract. However, it's not as conventional as mainstream poetry books, as the title suggests. It doesn't feel like a publisher, it feels like an author. You get to be 'inside my head'.

My Dimensional Philosopher's Toolkit Review on Goodreads

The Dimensional Philosopher's Toolkit: Or, the Essential Criticism; The Dimensional Encyclopedia, First VolumeThe Dimensional Philosopher's Toolkit: Or, the Essential Criticism; The Dimensional Encyclopedia, First Volume by Nathan Coppedge
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is genuine philosophy. I wrote it.

Coherent knowledge techniques using a diagrammatic method.

It makes Wittgenstein look nihilistic, and it makes Nietzsche look purposeless. It also provides a standard for re-interpreting how little Alfred Whitehead did with process philosophy.

Not metaphysics, but it does more with metaphysics than most works of philosophy have dreamed of.

Applies to theories of information, absolute knowledge, redefines syllogistic reasoning, and provides some good arguments for the partial failure of some traditional assumptions.

Overall, the best book of philosophy ever written (according to me).

Nietzsche is a better novelist, God is a better coherentist, but darn it this bucks the tradition. For a change someone (has) done something.

My 1-Page-Classics Review at Goodreads

1-Page-Classics: A Compendium Including Original Works and Interpretations of Eastern and Western Classics1-Page-Classics: A Compendium Including Original Works and Interpretations of Eastern and Western Classics by Nathan Coppedge
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the only book in the world in which you can find The Mandate of Heaven.

Now you're supposed to get a narcotic mystical feeling, and a pull for adventure---

The only warning is, most of the book is devoted to philosophy. But it's pretty original.

There is an emphasis on literature which crosses the boundary between fiction and philosophy.

Epiphanic Formula Drek #1

Public relates to introspection as it relates to contexts of modular architecture and applied reference.

The euphesia (a concept between eudaemonia and phronesis) of public interface is a conjunction between either introspection and modular architecture, or introspection and applied reference. In the first case, euphesia is public the way introspection has private interface. In the second case, euphesia has an interface the way introspection has private publicity.

Here are options:

< Interface is determined in the second case to be a mental interface, and mentality determines the structure of buildings and applied references. This is a highly systemic view, but has interesting brokerage with structure in that structure becomes informational.

< Interface in the first case is public euphesia. And in this case, structure determines the nature of introspection and modularity. In this case, the result is a relation of spirit and space.

Combining the two results, we have spiritual spaces determined to be informational.

So either, in some sense, data determines feng shui, or spiritual program determines data.

Ideas: Info-shui, Hyper-church.

Now it seems there is a prerogative to add concepts of information and spirituality to get further results.

System-weather combines with dynamic existentialism.

A More Careful Variation: Coherent Logic with Sixteen Categories

Using the same sixteen-category method:

D, C, B, A
H, G, F, E
L, K, J, I
P, O, N, M

Initially, the categories are reset to correspond with the numeric constituencies:

A-B-F-E is taken to be one category box (quadra diagram), say CC: [1.1] Purity, [1.2] Simplicity, [2.2] Reduction, [2.1] Nothing.

C-D-H-G is taken to be one quadra, say [1.3] Complexity, [1.4] Chaos, [2.4] Paradigmatics, [2.3] Usefulness.

K-L-P-O is taken to be one quadra, say [3.3] Perfection, [3.4] Order, [4.4] Architecture, [4.3] Justice.

I-J-N-M is taken to be a final quadra, say [3.1] Construction, [3.2] Ugliness, [4.2] Injustice, [4.1] Destruction.

Here are the results for the four either-or comparisons:

QUADRA 1
Simple purity is reduced to nothing, or
Nothing pure is reduced to simplicity

QUADRA 2
Chaotic complexity has paradigmatic usefulness, or
Useful complexity is paradigmatic chaos

QUADRA 3
Perfect order is the justice of architecture, or
Perfect justice is the architecture of order

QUADRA 4
Constructed ugliness is injustly destroyed, or
Constructed destruction is an ugly injustice

Now, I use the same balanced method, in which 1 must be abverse of 3, and 2 must be abverse of 4. This time, however, the result is more balanced in terms of the macro-level oppositeness:

A. Simple purity is reduced to nothing so that perfect justice is the architecture of order, when chaotic complexity has paradigmatic usefulness so that constructed destruction is an ugly injustice

B. Simple purity is reduced to nothing so that perfect justice is the architecture of order, when useful complexity is paradigmatic chaos so that constructed ugliness is injustly destroyed

C. Nothing pure is reduced to simplicity so that perfect order is the justice of architecture, when chaotic complexity has paradigmatic usefulness so that constructed destruction is an ugly injustice

D. Nothing pure is reduced to simplicity so that perfect order is the justice of architecture, when useful complexity is paradigmatic chaos so that constructed ugliness is injustly destroyed

Remember that, miraculously, sixteen categories have been reduced to four. There are two primary methods for interpreting the validity of the aphorisms. One is the value method, and the other is the equivalency method. In the value method, it is assumed or determined that one or another end has an advantage in defending a particular set of principles, typically the principles laid out by that description (say, A .or D.). The categories can be re-arranged by cycling them in the same linear positions, if a different value system is desired. The second method, equivalency, involves comparing the aphorisms for differential values. The equivalent sectors are accepted as the standard for comparing the two aphorisms, and the remaining descriptions are used as the primary character of judgment. Axioms can be used of the form that 'the terms differ by the degrees of separation' [in which D. is 1-degree different from A. and 2-degrees different from B.]

Note that, by using the words as variables which have assumed quantifiability, both the opposite subjects A-C and the opposite contexts B-D provide a ground for determining many truths on subjects related to the terms. However, in the case of a sixteen-box diagram, the following assumptions must be made:

A. Two opposites express the entire range of a given notional meaning.
B. What is not an opposite term for anything is determined to be a meaningless context. Note that oppositeness can exist in degrees and still fit into the system.
A. Modal variation allows for multiple opposites for a given term.
B. The terms chosen are in fact opposites, both on a sub-quadra and on a macro-quadra level. E.g. 1.1 opposes both 1.3 and 3.3, 2.4 opposes both 2.1 and 4.1, etc.

With that, it should be possible to assess the validity of the system. Purchases of the Dimensional Philosopher's Toolkit are encouraged for additional insight and organization.
