Nathan Coppedge answers: "What is life in a nutshell?"

Via Quora:

Life is meaning and morals.
Sometimes there's meaning, and sometimes ethical behavior is required.
If there's no meaning, and no ethics, then it's like there's nothing there.
Maybe art, but that's kind of like being in limbo.
We can try to preserve what we have, but if it's not meaningful, it probably has a moral.
If there's no moral and no meaning, what do we have, science?
Science is logical so it is meaningful, or it's not science.
Everything lies between art and science, and between meaning and morals.
In the middle there's logic. But logic by itself doesn't mean anything unless we know how to apply it.
Another view is the view of philosophers, which is not so different.
We can divide life into Metaphysics, Logic, and Ethics, or we can divide life into Modes, Systems, and Values.
We start with a modality, and if it isn't good, we get punished.
Sometimes we can preserve logic in a system.
If we don't have meaning we find values.
If we don't have values or meaning we get depressed.
If we avoid depression we find philosophy.
If there are unsolved questions then science and logic get involved, or maybe existentialism.
That's about it.

ANSWER TO LIFE PART ONE

Transcendent Style Guide

This is not a guide to writing style per se, but more of a guide to 'the style of life'. It is based on my pursuits of the artistic, philosophical, and immortal sublime.

(Artistic)

"Meta-aesthetics is all about reality"

"Qualities make the object"

(Philosophical)

"The next level of rationalism inevitably involves irrationalism"

"Matter is meaning, in whatever form it takes"

(Immortal)

"Our Notre Dame, judging by the heat, is always tempting people with peaches. By that logic, anyone can become god."

"If one were just to offer one's stuffed animal an ice cube now and then, perhaps everyone would have karma to become immortal..."

THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE GODS

EULERAEULER

One might go so far as to say that divinity is subjective...

What if, for example, I was a spinosaurus who invented cleverness in order to eat someone?

What if God had invented words---was the only inventor of words---?

And therefore, God was the only one in the world who ever took something literally?

But, then, Jesus might be the inventor of Love, and the only one who reproduces...

Zeus might have invented gods, but has a need to know the stuff of the gods...

Therefore, Zeus is mocked for his materialism.

But he has a power to return everyone to the beginning...

When there were no gods...

Therefore, there is not supposed to be a beginning----

If the powers that be are the powers that be...

If Age is timeless, then everyone changes, but that is not destruction!

Every God can live, and who is to avoid inventing one thing or another----?

Everyone is classical in their own way!

Unless the powers we have now belong to another age---!

Perhaps, in the Neo-Classical view, gods are merely those that understand!

Those that have a concept of the future....

Things that do not add up to the feeble mind....

Things that can build bridges over the wheeling masses...

Ways to divert gods into playing small games...

Games that matter for the answers of Times-----

Things regarding a clever engineer,

Or infinite contents,

Or a sacred room,

Or Sisyphus,

Or Mind....

THE SECRET OF LIFE #1...

It occurs to me that I may have thought of this before...

[1] Say to yourself, or a good friend: "I don't mean for anything scary to happen".

[2] When something scary happens on a separate occasion, make sure it is something meaningful to you. It could be, for example, an extreme form of artistic inspiration, a love affair, or a gift of money...

[3] Remember what you first thought about all the meaningful things, not just the scary ones...

[4] And, above all, remember who you were before anything scary happened...

[5] Consider all these things together, and it may click: life is meaningful, and not everything is totally scary.

[6] You will find it is easier to speak to people.

[7] You will find you have some spiritual insights.

[8] It will be easier to earn money.

[9] The world's problems will seem distant.

[10] Some of life's parables will make sense.

[11] You will grow more health-conscious.

[12] You will have free time.

[13] It will be possible to pursue life's significance.
