(2017) Melonhead Stories.
White donuts in China hardly relevant. I'm two liars to admit that, though I do like the donut.
Well, one of my stories is actually about melons:
When my Dad lived in Washington, DC he used to say: “Always pick the melon that is 2nd from the end, or 3rd from the end if the 2nd is rotten.”
Nathan Coppedge's answer to What's the most beautiful word or sentence in the world?
And since he's about 6 feet tall, the end meant those furthest from him, because his arms were always far away if he bent over.
So, that's my Dad, with real knowledge of melons.
Then there is also the story from The Hitchhiker's Guide, about dolphins being big melon heads compared to humans.
Dolphins are the only species whose brain may be proportionally larger than the human.
I once wrote about how to think like a dolphin.
Realizing One's Ultimate Porpoise
My Dad thinks they live in a kind of hell, but he doesn't really believe in hell. (So, they must be having fun being melon heads).
Then I had the full melonhead experience when I took a 400-course and was introduced to the humanities.
My paper on The Birth of Tragedy seemed to teach something about the humanities.
Finally, something of an even more ultimately melonhead experience was when I began to understand writing Chinese.
