* Academic quotes are allowed with non-advertising works if they are less than several paragraphs on one page.

* If you make a more decorative version of a quote such as one with a special font face that is more acceptable use, particularly if it is a collection of unrelated quotes or if the quote is short.
* Using a quote with an informal product without using it as a trademark may be very acceptable. For example, quotes used with intellectual products or with collections of links regarding an exciting topic area.
