ALTERNATE HISTORY CLASS 101

Not all authors are the ones they appear to be.

Not only do some authors write under pseudonyms,

but some writings are ascribed to others

by someone other than the author.

The motivations for this vary, but they usually involve

an idea of magnifying the importance of the writing.

This can even take place when the modification does harm to the work,

historically, intellectually, or perhaps metaphysically (in terms of what the reader
believes if the reader is omniscient).

A case example is Nathan Coppedge's Golden Notebook.

The text appeared in a book ascribed to Leibniz dated 1990 - 2000.

But Nathan Coppedge believes he wrote a better version of the text in 2004.

What Nathan Coppedge calls the Golden Notebook is labeled only 'Notebook J'
in Hollingdale's translation. Confusingly, the immeditely previous 'Notebook I,'
a short (1 - 2 page) writing that is total garbage, had been labeled the Golden Notebook instead.

Nathan remembers writing an earlier piece that was total garbage, and labeling it 'the golden notebook' in order to fool his audience, so that he could claim credit. But he had no idea that it would appear in a work by the prestigious Mr. Hollingdale (whoever he actually is).

The alternate hypothesis would be if Nathan was making notes on Hollingdale's book,
and made the realization that Notebook J was closer to being a golden notebook.

However, Nathan does not remember having had the Lichtenberg book in his possession.

From Nathan's point of view, the book looks like a later forgery. But perhaps Nathan simply has an inventive memory.

Another example is less believable, but also interesting.

Nathan remembers a past life as Marie Antoinette.

In this life, he was actually conscripted as a spy to work for the British.

During the course of her life in France, Antoinette succeeded in replacing the Queen,

but eventually forgot her entire connection to Britain.

This type of hypothesis proposes that subterfuge is what overthrew the French nobility.

It also explains how unlikable Marie Antoinette was as a person, and her odd
relationship with her hairdresser.

Nathan Coppedge also think he may have been a man named Todd Oxbridge who
migrated to America from Britain to become a spy.

He took what he took to be a completely opposite name, (Aaron Burr), and was
eventually elected president of the United States, but didn't serve in office, because he
considered it dishonorable for a spy.

These kinds of stories seem odd, but at the same time, perhaps they have some truth!

Why is the Golden Notebook called the Golden Notebook if it was not written by Marie Antoinette?

Why was Aaron Burr the only president not to serve while he was in office, and what other reason was there for this than some sort of dishonorable activity?

And who knows or has proposed these things except Nathan Coppedge?

It is this kind of almost trivial, yet almost convincing argumentation that makes for real alternate history.

There is some indicator that Socrates was obsessed with Mt. Etna. Perhaps this is the real story of Socrates' life, and explains why he doesn't have extant writings. Perhaps he made writings of a terrific quality, and threw them in to appease the gods.

Concerning my recent 'Sandbox' submission for a biography of Nathan Coppedge:

Jean Baudrillard writes a number of things which appear to pre-figure my concept of the philosophical paroxysm. Even more convincingly, these statements appear in a book called (aptly enough) 'Paroxysm', however the writings have simultaneously a sense of genius and a sense of lack of achievement. He writes:

"What, then, is the obsession, the secret motive, the endless finality underlying this progression? Finding the irreducible point which gives an unimpeded view of the world." (Paroxysm, p. 113).

This prefigures my concept of the 'mote of meaning'.

However, Baudrillard's quest, unlike my own, ends in despair:

'We must not believe that the truth remains the truth when we strip it of its veil' --- thus, truth has no naked existence. We must not believe that the real remains the real when its illusion has been dispelled --- thus, the real has no objective reality. (Paroxysm, p. 116).

Although this is interesting, and has led me to develop a theory of 'applicationism', on this point I feel that Baudrillard is being contradictory. He is admitting that he has not solved the general problem of the paradox. He is also admitting --- rather than brandishing --- his lack of objective knowledge.

In points like these, I defer to my own work, where it is clear that a paradox can be solved by reaching for the opposite of the most meaningful component terms, in the same order, and that objective knowledge can be reached by finding four polar opposites (in which opposites are located along the diagonal), and combining them in a cyclical order. Statements of wisdom surely would dispell this sexual nihilism that Baudrillard proposes.

Of course, my dad might think this is pretty petty, but here I go with more millionaire thinking.

"In a way the upper crust might go up" --- referring to the books that are sold because they think real books exist because they noticed my books.

"I'm seeking a little bit of coherence. It's my life mission" --- sounds better from a millionaire. Maybe I can become one...

According to my calculations, I'll be earning somewhere between $127 and $1 billion per year in nine years. The more exponential, the better. Somewhere between 2X and 6X per year would put me in job equivalency in 3 - 7 years.

The Dimensional Philosopher's Toolkit is Now Officially Copyrighted

I received a notice from the Library of Congress saying that most of the material included in the Dimensional Philosopher's Toolkit is considered copyrightable.

Actually, it's slightly ambiguous, but the notice says that the 'material excluded from this claim' is 'some text' which I assume means quotations. So I'm okay!

Updated Books

All of my books are print-on-demand, making it much easier to update everything.

Lessons of the Master, by Master Kuo (pseudonym): Completed the life of Master Kuo, from start to finish. I now consider it to be the 3rd Edition.

Story of Master Wu, by Master Kuo: Additional details about the end of Wu's life, spanning an additional 10 or so very short chapters, leaving the book at 200 pages. It is now the 2nd Edition.

Nathan Coppedge's Perpetual Motion Machine Designs & Theory: Has updated sections on theories.

The Dimensional Philosopher's Toolkit Re-Issued Edition is supposed to now contain several additional methods as well as several possible sections that were accidentally removed. But don't buy the e-book edition if you want the updated version, because there's no guarantee that they updated the e-book version.

The Dimensional Psychologist's Toolkit now has excerpts from the Kirkus review on the back cover.

The Book of Uniques has a number of added images.

Modal Dimensionism had a typo corrected.

One-Page-Classics obviously is in a new edition, from the previous 1-Page-Classics, which was less searchable on Amazon. The new edition has an updated Eternal Song that is less like something from John Milton.

News: I have received an official copyright from the Library of Congress

The title is Creeping Cadence & Cadence Continues: Poetry in the Life of a Schizophrenic.

It was pending since 2012.

My father claims you have to be a genius to get an official copyright. So I guess this counts as good news.
