Crab apple appears to be the tree of knowledge for philosophy. It’s an acridly bitter substance that’s not very edible. Crabbaples. Lthtowo

If you want to use herbs for magical purposes I recommend Cunningham’s book on Magical Herbs. It’s the first occult book I bought, and enjoyable to own unlike most books.

Although herbs by themselves do not always connote magic, there are things you can do with them that can have a profound effect on your life. There are many herbs like this including quite a few that you may attract naturally, but the effects often depend on specific actions that must be read about and remembered.

Not all the effects are very strong, but some have a profound effect, so be careful to find magical effects which you feel empowered to use and the effects of which are strong enough and meaningful enough to convince you of their worth.

You might not be able to find extreme effects at first was my experience, but I would expect you will see noticeable results over time which are convincing.

I have found there are limits to using herb magic alone, but it can be comforting practice and it does gain some results if used intelligently enough.

As far as finding obscure herbs that are hard to grow, many times a good alternative to an herb garden is simply buying food in a natural food store. Supplies such as fresh basil leaves and ground turmeric are widely available in some stores. Basil leaves stuffed in pockets is said to help gain treasure, and turmeric (‘yellow root’) is known to aid digestion and memory in Eastern traditions, and is second only to Jiaogulan in aiding immortality as far as common practices go.

As a warning, turmeric has a way of staining things yellow, although it’s effect on teeth is not very strong. Only use a very small amount in tea, because it is extremely bitter and powdery and often immediately suffuses the whole volume. However, i find it more palatable than Jiaogulan, if at the same time much weaker and less useful. But it has profound effects on preventing illness.

Yellow root was an Asian secret until about 2016. It is still not known as yellow root in the United States. But although it is not often talked about, it is often available in herb aisles lately.

Jiaogulan tea is available on Amazon for a hefty price, but it may last you for years because it tends to be reusable. I still have a large part of my supply from years and years ago. It is almost like it is never used up. It is also available on Etsy for much cheaper, but I have found those untreated leaves are awkward for making tea and may be more likely to contain parasites. If you only use it as tea instead of eating the raw leaves you are less likely to get a parasite from it. In the case of the Amazon tea it is less tempting because the leaves are gnarly and crumbly and really look like they are only good for tea plus they are treated and look like they are more consistent and carefully grown.

Other notes on herbs:

Flowers, spices, good smells

Four-Herb Soup

Herbal Teas: for example mint tea or lemon tea. They’re less stimulating than green tea or black tea. They are mostly for taste, they serve little intellectual advantage, but are often a stepping stone from orange juice and milk to mild green tea. Some find lemon or mint inspires their mind simply because of the flavor, and the recognition of previously concealed imaginative possibilities, derived from the taste on their tongue.

Raspberries are surprisingly healthy. Raspberries or raspberry juice can turn around your health if you are in the process of losing weight.

Red-colored fruits and plums for merriment

Sage: not good

“Grape juice is better than wine because it's not fermented." ---Nathan Coppedge

Maybe too many people feel like coffee and aspirin. It can make it hard to make conscious decisions.

Goldenrod looking plants may be poisonous.

Feeling too homosexual or depressed? Try lemonade or half lemonade half tea. Works for me.

White tea may help with skin conditions.

Something like eating apricots or reading things that make you feel better should be acceptable, though I’m not sure ‘biohack’ is the best term for it.

If you have a weak bladder, drinking strong tea or coffee can reduce urination. So, if you have problems urinating, sometimes it could be a result of drinking too much coffee.

Cranberry juice is like a million years bad luck.

Alfalfa sprouts are excellent for sociability and luck.

Women: Get in touch with mint and potatoes. This is probably what women used to eat because they had knowledge of herbs. Men were foolish and ate bird meat. This explains why men now have a weight problem, since their hips are supposed to be narrow, while women do not gain as much weight.
