"It's not a fabric. Space-time as it's used in general relativity theory is just a mathematical construct. You take 4 coordinates, define some functions on them, then some more functions and transformations, add some salt, pepper and known old laws of physics, and end up with equations that turn out to describe our world well. But it was all just math all the way. It doesn't say there is some actual space-time fabric. It just says if you apply these and these math rules to compute distances at different points you get these results."
So clarifying! Space can be multi-dimensional!
