The top and middle concepts are some of the only possible designs for significantly reducing recoil mechanically. The bottom concept is known as ‘forward fire’ and accepts some recoil but also improves velocity of the rounds. All of them can be used with various style guns and various calibers, depending on whether some factors such as cartridge ejection and structural issues can be worked out. It is thought not to require titanium, fortunately, though it may require high-grade steel. Some of the normal weight of the gun may be reduceable by allowing part of the weight to simply go into the structure of the new device and less so the existing structure of the gun. A stronger barrel or reduced propellant may be needed to handle the new higher velocity of the rounds.

OVERVIEW: It is observed that the force typically is sent to the back of the barrel. If forwards momentum is generated in the barrel this might been seen as a reversal of the vectors of force. The goal if it works is to transfer a significant part of the backwards momentum into a greater amount of forwards force relatively quickly. The issues ought to be small if it works mechanically.

- A factor with the new version is that the small end of the lever should be separated from the barrel by a small cushion spring. Otherwise, operation is very similar. The major difference is that the short end of the lever is on the upper side of the barrel, though there may be version that could implement the design over the bottom near the front handle instead if desired, also using the cushion spring.

- Say you have a quintain with two guns which have a similar recoil. Firing them both at the same time on the two sides of the quintain with solid panels on each arm could produce probably at least 80% reduction in recoil in spite of the fact that the quintain would normally spin around.
- In the design in the diagram, a lever serves to balance the forces instead of the quintain.
- Consider it in terms of vectors of force.
- We are not saying the backwards force disappears at all.
- We are instead saying the backwards force is immediately transferred into a FORWARD vector in the short end of the lever on the lower side of the barrel which pushes with greater force, only a very short distance. This could eliminate the backward motion of the stock over long periods of time, which if you have studied recoil a lot, is actually the biggest factor in recoil.
- Consider honestly what happens when you hold a stock to your shoulder, and there is a forward vector.
- Now, consider if the forces cancel out.
- I don’t mean 100% there might be no such thing, but consider the possibility of close to 80% or in some rare cases even more.
What interests me is that items such as OU Recoil may exhibit unique properties. If there is evidence of any of the principles this seems to suggest that it / they could be applied in some manner to new technologies or extensions of old technology. For example, highly efficient mechanical principles might boost production in a coal or oil energy plant, they might improve the range or speed of traditional vehicles, they might improve or replace batteries and extend battery life, they might create better more interesting toys and home decorations. It could be a revolution in public entertainment and in industrial development. Similar principles could also improve the efficiency and investability of the banking system and high-level finances. Efficient mechanisms could make good investments and could provide higher return on investment as well as more interest in infrastructure and infrastructure innovation such as robotics, energy, and vehicles. Once significant evidence is verified, high mechanical efficiency could be one of the most re-applicable and universal technologies. And I think some of these technologies could easily be implemented in my lifetime and rapidly see significant results. That is why I push the Over-Unity Recoil concept, because it is something that might have instant adaptability and where existing infrastructure might prove the concept viable in a short time. This still depends largely on the use of a lever in the proper manner with hinge connected to the shorter member underneath the gun. This ratio is thought to depend on ratio more than scale. In theory you could build it internal to a pistol with no additional externally-visible features and still reduce recoil to near-zero.

The key here may be to ‘tighten the bracket’ but not completely. If set to a particular tightness, a large amount of recoil is supposed to disappear. There are various requirements like the barrel must slide, there must be a spring which allows the back end to take more movement than the front end of the spring, but with recoil being transferred immediately into a strong forward reverse kick. It is not known how much this concept has been tested if at all, though it is conjectured a similar principle may already be used in the AK47, though it is not known. Elon Berger boasts the AK47 has some kick but it would probably not break your nose. I am not absolutely sure, I have not fired very many guns.

Remember, US, that a lot of the advantage with OU Recoil may be with full-auto snipers, long-range machine guns, or special forces that can attack through buildings at range. Still, the ethics doesn’t look great. Alternately, it might be helpful for training relatively untrained soldiers or simply improving accuracy and combat effectiveness.
