Quotes December 2017
"This philosophy, which is completely generalistic, results in a high degree of significant specializations, which would ultimately be treated more like a dimension of virtual paradise to be experienced and enjoyed than as a career path that is the subject of a miserable thesis."
---Nathan Coppedge
However, if the alternative to contradiction is physics, then there is no way to contradict the physical universe, and so the universe would be a perpetual motion machine. But if this physics were a contradiction, it could only produce smaller perpetual motion machines, since the universe exists, and eternity is measured in perpetual motion machines, and insofar as eternity is measured perpetual motion is physical.
---Nathan Coppedge
"By all accounts I lived one of the most miserable, infinitely significant lives, and there is not much evidence I will be remembered if I die. My plan is to be immortal, so people eventually get the message that I have special importance. Maybe if I'm a god they will understand my selfless mission to create perpetual motion and solve the ultimate problems of philosophy." ---Nathan Coppedge, message potentially addressed to someone who experiences eidetic visions
"Life has ideas! Life can afford understanding! Understanding is a meaningful experience! Life is worth living! Live the life that acquires worthwhile experiences." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Creativity may not be easy, but it does not necessarily require mastery." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Creativity may not be easy, but it does not necessarily require mastery." ---Nathan Coppedge
"A good scientific theory is reasonable and falsifiable. A good philosophical theory is useful and exclusive. Exclusive here means that if there are alternatives they are accounted for, or the theory is considered logically corrupt." ---Nathan Coppedge

Quotes November 2017
"Would you believe in perpetual motion if you knew my experiment worked? Maybe you would have more reason than before, at least." ---Nathan Coppedge
"The new version of anti-radicalism is to not believe in its metaphysical possibility, as well as not believing in metaphysics, so that the metaphysical impossibility is impossible-to-be-impossible, and yet, impossible. Which is itself impossible, but does not render the relevant facts impossible." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Why are particles spherical? In effect, the objects are time-traveling. The abbreviation is that things get what they want (like the Law of Attraction), and spherical options are what remains of the beginning of desire. The exceptions (in the gravity well of potential time travel) are things that are fulfilling their desires. The beginnings of an atomic theory of consciousness." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Think of particles as attempted thoughts, or any other remarkable paradigm.
Time travel is part way to true thought." ---Nathan Coppedge
"At first, one might guess they are blaming me for inventing it— But they don’t really think I did…. It might be more accurare to say that they are not blaming me for not inventing it— Isn't that what they do for most people? After all, how can you blame someone for doing something they didn't do? And they don't think I DID invent it (or anyone else?). So… They might be blaming me for not inventing if it were possible at all— They might be messed up in the mind! It is easier and more cogent to say they are blaming me for not inventing it unless I did!!! But they deny this. They say they blame me for inventing it, unless they blame me for not inventing it. Somehow for them, perpetual motion is a blame game. I would rather say, who is the most responsible! Who is most responsible? The one who designs it and the one who builds it, in equal measure!" ---Nathan Coppedge
"Philosophy is Liberal Arts. Logic has as much in common with language, aesthetics, and metaphysics as mathematics does with physics, economics, and engineering." ---Nathan Coppedge

Quotes October 2017
"I am making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. And, maybe when I get back there will be very good news." ---Nathan Coppedge, on his correspondence with an engineer.
"It might be trillion-dollar tea, if I don't answer my e-mail." ---Nathan Coppedge, on his correspondence with an engineer.
"You are saving my hopes in the possibility of impossibility." ---Nathan Coppedge, on his correspondence with an engineer.
"I'm in a good mood, I just have a horrible personality." ---Nathan Coppedge
"For one thing my experiment worked! And another thing is there's only one thing stopping it, and its not friction!" ---Nathan Coppedge
"To some extent, scientists hear what they want to hear like everyone else. Nothing guarantees that scientific findings are the only source of insight, NOR can free will be disproven by a limited negative. Rather, all that can be proven is a qualification of something that already exists. If something can be created from pure idea, that alone is enough to prove indeterminism, which is enough to relatively prove free will. It is unfair to expect indeterminate events to lack relevance to existing data. For example, we posit ‘universe’ to find ‘empty space’ but if we thought ‘world’ meant universe, we would instead think of ‘air’ as empty space. If we think we alone in our minds are the universe, then nothingness becomes emotional, like a feeling of solipsism. But just as easily we might feel happy, or think the air was only really ever accessed by airplanes, and outer space entails an exponential growth in natural resources, etc. Clearly lack of values would imply lack of judgment, and lack of judgment is disproven by shift of perspectives." ---Nathan Coppedge
"I know a heavier weight can lift a lighter weight up a slope. I know a lighter weight can lift a heavier weight when it has sufficient leverage. That much is proven, and that is the basis of the design." ---Nathan Coppedge
"In terms of perpetual motion, a balance with two equal weights can move from rest, because the position of disorder has the same exact average altitude as the position of order. If the average altitude is the same, there is no net loss of gravity force, and so disorder and order must be treated as the same. But this means it is possible to get motion from rest at no net loss of altitude, which should indicate perpetual motion. In physics it seems to me people arbitrarily conclude that it is only at rest when it stops moving. But, to be fair, if the motion requires no net loss of altitude, then we are still getting gravity from nowhere, if what we mean by gravity is physical motion." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Doesn’t it make sense that if a wheel moves horizontally, it requires half of gravity? After all, it falls between full gravity + kinetics to lift it and zero gravity - kinetics to drop it. Therefore, rolling a wheel should require zero kinetics." ---Nathan Coppedge
"This is more like Pi the movie of Pi the movie. (But not the Life of Pi, FYI)." ---Nathan Coppedge, message to a critic
"Its not infinitely bad, its not infinitely good: its me trying to figure out my own life." --Nathan Coppedge, in response to mother wondering what was going on
"The most exciting thing is not that we made a difference, but that time-travel is possible at all, and life and people on Earth are more exciting than we thought." ---Nathan Coppedge

Nathan Coppedge Quotes September 2017
“The end of pain is the beginning of the purpose of pain.” —Nathan Coppedge, Wisdom of the New Ancients
"There is a useful myth that triangles require quadratics. The difference appears to be functions." ---Nathan Coppedge
"The alternative to meaning of course is the meaningless, which may be capable of both intellectual arbitrariness and violence." ---Nathan Coppedge
"In the direction of matter, there is a black hole. In the direction of definition there is death. But there is also a terrible efficiency which is the greatest truth we know." ---Nathan Coppedge
"3-d seems to produce efficient entities." ---Nathan Coppedge
"I'm not even saying I'm a genius, just do something with my work!" ---Nathan Coppedge
"I thought I was obligated to present an alternate route." ---Nathan Coppedge, concerning coherentism's lightness on mathematics.
"The products of late-blooming genius are wasted, just like the results of childhood prodigy are wasted, just like politics is wasted, and poetry is wasted, and the thoughts of perpetual motion are largely wasted…" ---Nathan Coppedge
"There is a question for every statement, a word for every problem, a system for every idea, and at least one idea for every system. That is about all I can get out of meta-knowledge questions, if I summarize the wise parts." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Let's see what I can do in my lifetime." ---Nathan Coppedge

"Very disillusioned at this point, except that my experiments are pure platinum." ---Nathan Coppedge
"In logic, what is meant by subjectivity is science. The deepest philosophy uses relative relativism and creates the science of knowledge, in a sense, the first official philosophy, and the first actual knowledge." ---Nathan Coppedge
"The technological singularity may have died with the middle class." ---Nathan Coppedge

Quotes August 2017
"In general everyone in the third lives between the 2 and the 4, with very few metaphysically living in the 2 or the 4." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Some question the existence of metaphysical dimensions, but as long as we have three spatial dimensions and only a limited perception of time, then there is a strong argument we live at or near the 3-d." ---Nathan Coppedge
"If the fourth dimension were linear (chronological) then it would just be an extension of the 3-d, and so it wouldn't be the true 4th dimension." ---Nathan Coppedge
"It can be argued each dimension has knowledge of the lower dimensions if we assume it is a progression, or that everyone is qualified to live in the dimension they live in. However, metaphysically we may not know exactly how the lower metaphysical dimensions live unless we have direct experience of them. It seems likely that the metaphysical second dimension is very different from the conceptual second dimension. It seems likely to me that the lower dimensions have proportionately greater knowledge of the higher dimensions than do the higher dimensions of the even higher (we call this when 'God cheats’). After all, the lower dimensions may be more fundamental, or more responsible for a larger number of later dimensions. Specifically, fhe 2nd is responsible for the third, but is otherwise no different from the third, etc and so on down the line. In this way the dimensions are less and less responible, although really they are equally responsible relative to their complexity. Complexity is possible because if the dimensions were all the same, they would be equally fundamental." ---Nathan Coppedge
"There is no responsibility without getting what we want." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Sometimes responsible people don't know how responsible they are." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Measuring the worth of worth is futile." ---Nathan Coppedge
"The evolution of evolution. Perception must always have an unconscious military, or the laws of civilized nature favor pleasure, and everyone lives on a Luxury Platform. The evolution of the military is to not be in the military, because it is better defense to not be in the military if one is inexperienced, and the only way to gain experience is to take risks. Also, experience will never be absolute and the military takes big risks. In essence, the military is not really macho when evolution means that evolution has already evolved. Everyone is equal, there is no need for muscle, madmen can be powerful or good. All is useless that can be stripped away." ---Nathan Coppedge, on the razor of luxury and swords to plowshares and the evolution of warfare
"How to prove one perpetual motion machine without proving many? The puzzle-box of fame..." ---Nathan Coppedge
"We don't argue that bricks can't make a wall, so we shouldn't argue against exponential efficiency. 12 bricks is almost like a wall!" ---Nathan Coppedge, arguing for his device with 12 compound advantages
"If philosophy is more suited to paradise than science, then we will either have a lot of philosophy, or an alternative to paradise." ---Nathan Coppedge
"People often think technology is the paradigm, but they have yet to think paradigm can be a technology. In that way, I have innovated." ---Nathan Coppedge
"The world we live in is not so different from a scheduling system for ideas—that is what it is." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Some of what C.S. Peirce propogates is merely bad Booleanism or a hard-nosed view of skeptical semantics. It should be unnecessary to say that skeptical semantics is an unnecessary discipline, as skepticism and semantics are mutually redundant." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Specific locations should really pay for everything." ---Nathan Coppedge, wisdom of the new ancients
"Before knowledge it seems, people were building in stone trees. It may be truth is more organic." ---Nathan Coppedge, after reading The Birth of Tragedy
"There is some truth in this statement that Brian believed in gods and had sex, while I believed in sex and became a virginal god." ---Nathan Coppedge, after reading The Birth of Tragedy

"Physically, something can work mechanically, under a physico-metaphysical supposition... we know logic should have a mechanism under some definition... If there is no criterion of meaning, there will be no necessary circularity... However, if there is a criterion of meaning that is met, still... we can state conditionally that we know how something works. (We) could know because it doesn't matter, or because we're an expert, or because we have special knowledge even non-mechanical knowledge, or because we have successfully qualified our criteria in a certain way even before assessing them. We will now have to prove these claims... only the best machines and other functions survive... there are two major exceptions: 1. When someone is doing some intense thinking... for example, in mathematics, where everything is built on thought, and 2. When there is a practical reason, like a random reason, why something does not work. A problem arises when the definition itself is ambiguous, but if the physical or logical conditions of function can be agreed on, then conditionally there should be a way to avoid circularity. The problem at this point will be 1. How to adopt a successful definition qua physics, metaphysics, or logic, and 2. How to change or otherwise universalize the criterion without adopting further and further definitions. The most general problem from the very beginning is not having an actual physics, metaphysics, or logic, and I think this is the root of the problem with circularity. Thus, it is apodictic to say that the true logical criterion would have no problem with circularity. And this can be true even conditionally. And so, qua condition circularity must be impossible. A further problem is simply the denial of truth, which amounts to the drnial of relevance (practically, intellectually, emotionally, spiritually). However, what is true is still true qua relevance if it is true, conditionally or otherwise. One technique I have used is to adopt systematic assumptions which create the universal logic, accept that the systematic assumptions are modifiable, apply the universal logic to certain cases in which the systemic premises hold, and leave the larger questions to the diapute about systems and similar entities. The systemic dispute may be valid, but it does not mean all validity is eliminated... To claim that anything is absolutely not useful / universal to anyone or in any way is an argument out of hand (a type of fallacy). Thus, the first condition of knowledge functionality is conditionality or (else) triviality." ---Nathan Coppedge, on circular reasoning

AN ARROGANT HISTORY OF THE WESTERN UNIVERSITY
HISTORY OF THE WEST, VOL. 1
BOOK DESCRIPTION
Here is a very Avant-Garde, almost Metamodern, Alternate History take on what is important in Western culture. Each volume comes in four parts. In this history, which attempts arrogantly to explain what is important in a university, the sections are: 1) How To Build a 100-Dimensional Universe, 2) Delineation of Math Education, 3) How To Be Smart, and last but not least, 4) Socrates On Ethics by Coppedge. The longest section is How To Be Smart, which includes sections on Calculus, Medicine, Physics, and other subjects, from the standpoint of a dimensionist philosopher. Worthwhile reading, in the author's opinion!

Quotes July 2017
"The weak soul --- At that level, the body is the soul, but it does not count as a soul with weight. The Soul of the Common Man — can bring a weight upon small minds... The Soul of the Uncommon Man — is rumored to weigh as much as a spec of dust. The Genius soul —is worth it’s weight in gold... I have found a small blood-and-wax figure naturally formed in my ear which appeared shaped like the face of a little (genius)... The Gnostic Soul — The weight is judged in heaven with trickery. ... The safeguard is to be more tricky... and to become enslaved to the spirit. The Soul of the Magi — The magi are people authentic enough to have classic souls, and what this seems to involve is the power of the soul, to direct it into objects or places... phusis or psyche or noos... the soul may be able to ever-so-carefully acquire the weight of the vessel that contains it. An appropriate vessel might be one way to have a powerful soul in this case... as V. says ... the soul is only as strong as the vessel that keeps it. Which is meant as a reference to being a vampire immortal or wight... The Immortal Soul —With difficulty, one acquires a magic nature, and this is when the soul begins to physically grow. It is relatively rare... Not everyone would agree that it could become immortal. But so long as we are debating the strength of the soul we are in trouble... because we then seem to oppose its natural growth." --- Nathan Coppedge, The Weight of the Soul
"There is a house, surrounded by a garden. 'The trees look so ornate'. 'Ooh, I think I saw a tarantula!' The children chase it around, and eventually it escapes the wall of the garden. Lemonade is poured. What a significant moment!" ---Nathan Coppedge, The Story of the World Part 2

Sunday July 2nd I had a small disaster
I lost most of my private work since January.
Some of the things that were lost:
* 20 pages of The Dimensional Physics Toolkit.
* 2 or 3 recent entries in An Enchanter's Journal on the use of the soul for magic.
*A large part of Nathan's Proverbs / Parables.
*Countless small additions to other works.
*Any recent unpublished book projects.
Truly sad.
The saddest thing is I feel almost completely selfless about it. I haven't cried at all.
Fortunately my websites were recovered and the majority of my recent writings were made on Quora.
Update: The two missing parables on The Time-Traveler and Ethical Knowledge may have been recovered from Quora.

Programmable Heuristics Will Be Available as a Book!!!
PROGRAMMABLE HEURISTICS AND --> BIG IDEAS!,
This text is now available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1548187380/
BOOK DESCRIPTION
This is the long-awaited text edition of Coppedge’s valuable philosophical heuristics, designed to aid programmers (and everyone else!) in all matters of knowledge. The contents may be beneficial for economists, programmers, machine learning, and even for political advisory and more common tasks like philosophy and creative writing. This is truly a treasure trove for heuristic analysis! Included at the end are eight or so writings on big ideas to give needed perspective and clarify problems, as well as provide a little education.
FROM THE INTRODUCTION
Alan Hájek, who earned his PhD. in philosophy at Princeton in 1993, argues that “philosophy has a variety of heuristics” (1). And goes on to say that “such heuristics can enhance one’s ability to make creative contributions to philosophy.” (1). As recently as 1972, Karl Popper did not even consider philosophical objectivity (in other words, progress) possible. He writes: “From a rational point of view, we should not ‘rely’ on any theory, for no theory has been shown to be true, or can be shown to be true.” (Popper 21). This is a strange absoluteness to hold, which must be self-contradictory. Typology, which is perhaps the closest to realizing coherence outside of mathematics, emerged as recently as the 1870s (145 years ago) with Charles Peirce. (“This theory of meaning (‘speculative grammar’) was to provide foundations for his writings in logic” OCP). Nicholas Rescher’s book (1973), dates work on coherence somewhat more recently. However, not all heuristics involve coherence. I have made an effort to include anything that might be helpful to my readers.
BIO
Nathan Coppedge, b. 1982, is an author and member of the International Honor Society for Philosophers. He is a famous quotable, and visionary artist. His recent project has been to re-construct the lectures of Socrates. He lives near Yale University.

New Quotes June 2017
"Being a wizard is about having the right mind. Being a scientist is about having the right universe. But we are more responsible for minds than universes." ---Nathan Coppedge
"With the right influence on the 3-d world, it might be possible to buy into the 4-d world. But it still requires good ideas."
"Good solutions to problems are nominally worth keeping in a magical library." ---Nathan Coppedge
"For me, when life is unbearable, that seems dishonest... Optimism is good, and a good life may be difficult, but optimism isn't the only good thing."
"At some point it seems functionality and the universe will be different things (Because functionality can evolve, but that implies a lack of knowledge of what the universe is, as a function of the unlikelihood of functionality)." ---Nathan Coppedge
"What can be done in zero degrees with nothing can almost never be done in one degree with something." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Properties of infinity: It's not a sandbox. It's just a guppy. The philosopher has quite an appetite. Archetypes lock together." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Recipe for consciousness: Infinity, priority, the drama of atoms, the drama of sex, the drama of intellect, the boredom of immortals, the infinite priority, sex with atoms, intellectual boredom, infinite atoms, infinite jealousy, good ideas." ---Nathan Coppedge
"4-d might not know that the temple is empty, the garden is complete, the flowers are green, and the tower has one floor." ---Nathan Coppedge
"They are equally virtuous, except the victim has a bad metaphysics, the one who is ambitious is not always rewarded for creating significance, and the one living the good life may sometimes not understand how to live meaningfully. As a result, metaphysics is always flawed in an imperfect world." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Devil-IGSHS (Goals of an immortal life:) diabolical, immortal, great, significant, happy, smart." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Coherent problems: the dialectic of philosophy, method of solving paradoxes, all problems are ideally philosophical, what is good is really good, problems are problematical, impossibility is impossible, insofar as we die we're already dead so if we die we've become someone else."
"Touching a stone will prevent reality from slipping away, while kicking it will cause it to leave." ---Nathan Coppedge
"True depth: if we can't see it, it's infinite. If we can see it, it's condensed! Same logic." ---Nathan Coppedge
"It is sincere to say there is no appropriate future (in philosophy) without interpreting all of the past." ---Nathan Coppedge

Quotes May 2017
"Everyone will have something to believe in when perpetual motion is invented. And I think in some ways IT HAS!" ---Nathan Coppedge
"If I have sex, I want to be inventor of perpetual motion first." ---Nathan Coppedge
"True souls know other souls, and as such they are wise." ---Nathan Coppedge
"If it is impossible to have any history without a planet, light is the relative history of massive bodies. Immortality may be like a shortcircuit." ---Nathan Coppedge
"If we insist that there is a problem, we will need a paradox. If we insist there is solvability, we will need triviality not-closed under consciousness." ---Nathan Coppedge, solution to the P versus NP problem
"In what I call meaningful semantics, problems are what is considered the most meaningful thing. There are some simple arguments which say the meaningful semantics is superficial: because all problems amount to philosophical problems, and philosophical problems are still problems, and the un-challenged life can be equally meaningful. Therefore, the meaningful semantics may not be necessary, and if its meaning is not necessary, maybe it is not meaningful. However, if it is necessary, it may be meaningful even if it does not pose a challenge, and perhaps it can be meaningful even if it is not necessary." ---Nathan Coppedge
"All my energy comes, from a lack of problems." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Intelligence that happens to be coherent is coherent just as the world that happens to be coherent is coherent. They can be well-qualified even if they are different, because they are different to begin with. And, this doesn't make them wrong, so long as they meet the criteria." ---Nathan Coppedge
"What is wrong is meeting the criteria of wrong, just as what is coherent is what meets the criteria of coherent. There is nothing that says meeting criteria is either simple or impossible. The only problem is a problem, and the only solution is a solution, and so on for any other thing. In this way we can qualify our terms. Experience is a measurement, a contextualization, but it is not proven to be anything but an experience, so clearly the only coherency proven to experience is a coherent experience, and it is unfair to ask for more without changing the terms." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Actually meeting criteria may be complex, but it need not be impossible." ---Nathan Coppedge
"[O]pen system... It doesn't mean that relative to our criteria a problem is not solvable, or that our solution cannot be qualified and measured." ---Nathan Coppedge
"If you can go halfway to happiness from depression, you can recover all the way."
"Paranormal people have tools to be realistic." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Much takes place after the invisible war with madness, and the refined distillation of impercunious meaning." ---Nathan Coppedge
"All that is required for imprecision is an art." ---Nathan Coppedge
"An attempt to be interesting without making many unnecessary assumptions. (10 words). By engaging in meaning, enchantment, and many other worthwhile qualities. (10 words). Leading to their appropriate justice and tranquil state of mind. (10 words)." ---Nathan Coppedge, response to 'In 10 words or more, what is life experience?'
"Rumor is: Someone smart is a snake. Someone clever tricks the snake. Someone brilliant invents the snake. Someone genius proves there is something better than the snake. And, a wise person is not tempted by the snake problem at all." ---Nathan Coppedge
"What is the perfect problem? The answer is the problem, the problem is the answer: immortality." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Basically, genius seems to be divided into artists, philosophers, mathematicians, physicists, and inventors." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Un-philosophical solutions do not have to be impractical problems. In other words, all problems should be philosophical." ---Nathan Coppedge
"All it takes is reasonable exaggeration and a little justified context." ---Nathan Coppedge, knowledge heuristic
"Original aesthetics or useful philosophy = big ideas." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Idealism is one qualification... And other qualifications must exist... The mind is a synthesis." ---Nathan Coppedge, Applicationist Critique of Berkeley
"Metaphysics allows the infinite soul to be humble, and to find meaning." ---Nathan Coppedge
"If something infinite is genius, it is a bit of a genius." ---Nathan Coppedge
"If life expectancy increases again, we can expect things like people who value immortality." ---Nathan Coppedge
"Physics doesn't always work unless it includes bad ideas... Perpetual motion might work." ---Nathan Coppedge
"A better idea is something more efficient or magical, which is just the two ends of information." ---Nathan Coppedge
